This project included a full jacket cover illustration plus four interior well pages with each one introducing a section of the issue. Working closely with the CAES team, the cover brief was ambitious: show the full breadth of agriculture, communities, diverse backgrounds, tech, food to table, while also weaving in a nod to their Moroccan study abroad program. Onions were the call-out crop, so I built the cover to give them a highlight while incorporating imagery that still connects to internal stories. We also worked in a couple of UGA touchpoints, their campus statue and Rosie the Rose Tarantula, so the piece felt distinctly theirs.
Each well page sets up the section that follows: Forecast, rooted in microscopic and emerging technologies, Nurture, focused on growing and development, Thrive, the full-growth stage, and Harvest, covering tables and implementation. It was a joy to work closely with the creative director throughout, taking their briefs for each section and translating them into the final art.
